This is another good explanation for the Avatar’s memory loss in Ultima Ascension.
As we know, before the beginning of Ultima 8, the Avatar spends quite a time under the water before Devon hauls him up with his nets. That time under water resulted in oxygen loss and caused some damage in his brain.
